I Killed The Prom Queen - Beloved: Review

IKTPQ is one of those bands that does not get the respect its deserves. Of course, this is my opinion but I believe it to be true. They have been around for quite some time and aside from Parkway Drive, were one of the first Australian metalcore bands. When metalcore was just starting, it was almost a strictly american form of metal, until the sounds of Killswitch Engage or As I Lay Dying, hit the shores of Australia. IKTPQ came out with two Full length albums and a couple EPs and a live CD until their breakup in 2007.

The announced in 2014 that they were getting back together and were recording new material, but not many people knew who they were anymore. Tons of metalcore bands from all over the world flooded the scene with either electronic music sounds or emo sounds, in the genre. However, IKTPQ shows that pure metalcore is alive, and it can be seen in their third Full length album BELOVED.

From the start, you can tell that this is the IKTPQ from 2004. All tracks seem like you are reliving the golden age of metalcore. All tracks have amazing beats and unique sounds which made me love the band even more. Extremly heavy breakdowns flood the album and add intensity. You can tell IKTPQ took time doing this album, and made sure their music was up to par today. This is a must own for ANY metal lover, from a band that should have never went away in the first place.

Emmure - Eternal Enemies: Review

I was lucky enough to get my hands on Emmures New Album early... Just kidding, im not that important. However, they streamed the whole album recently and I got to listen to it...

Emmure has been around for a awile now. They were one of the first popular deathcore bands on the scene and are on every tour/festival. Their 6th album "Eternal Enemies" is not their best album to date, but certainly shows how mature Emmure can be.

Each track offers a healthy dose of deathcore, metalcore, hardcore and rap. Leaving you wanting more from each song. I was thrown off by some of the lyrical content in some of the tracks. Most talk about how much the world sucks (which is cool because it does) and some talk about shooting up schools and hoping eceryone dies. The track "Bring a Gun to School" or as its apparently goinng to be called "Untitled" is a harsh song with brutal lyrics. Now, i don't want to say what i think the lyrics mean, cause all bands have their own way of how lyrics are to be portrayed, ill just leave that up to the listener.

All that being said, Emmures new album is a good addition to a healthy lineup of albums by a band that still stays true to the game.

Score: 7/10
Heaviness: 7-8/10

Chevelle - La Gargola: Review

Chevelle is one of those rare bands that do not change a thing in their music. If it works, theres no need to change it. Chevelles new album "La Gargola" is the no exxeption. Most tracks sound like their previous 3 albums but quite often i found glipses of their popular (and in my opion the best) album "Wonder whats next" which is a welcome to an age where hard rock and alternative metal is a dying breed.

Each track is unique and fairly catchy, which Chevelle is known for. La Gargola is a great album from a band that stands the test of Time, and is a must own for Chevelle fans.

Score: 8/10
Heaviness: 4-5/10
