I Killed The Prom Queen - Beloved: Review

IKTPQ is one of those bands that does not get the respect its deserves. Of course, this is my opinion but I believe it to be true. They have been around for quite some time and aside from Parkway Drive, were one of the first Australian metalcore bands. When metalcore was just starting, it was almost a strictly american form of metal, until the sounds of Killswitch Engage or As I Lay Dying, hit the shores of Australia. IKTPQ came out with two Full length albums and a couple EPs and a live CD until their breakup in 2007.

The announced in 2014 that they were getting back together and were recording new material, but not many people knew who they were anymore. Tons of metalcore bands from all over the world flooded the scene with either electronic music sounds or emo sounds, in the genre. However, IKTPQ shows that pure metalcore is alive, and it can be seen in their third Full length album BELOVED.

From the start, you can tell that this is the IKTPQ from 2004. All tracks seem like you are reliving the golden age of metalcore. All tracks have amazing beats and unique sounds which made me love the band even more. Extremly heavy breakdowns flood the album and add intensity. You can tell IKTPQ took time doing this album, and made sure their music was up to par today. This is a must own for ANY metal lover, from a band that should have never went away in the first place.

Score: 10/10
Heaviness: 8/10
